THRASS (Teaching Handwriting, Reading and Spelling Skills)

THRASS is a multi-sensory tool integrated into the Lower School literacy programme to help learners better understand the relationship between the 44 phonemes of spoken English and the 26 letters of the alphabet. THRASS believes we should give learners the “whole picture”right from the beginning by explicitly teaching the building blocks of English. Learning Services THRASS Specialist, Peggy Murray, will be conducting parent workshops offering practical strategies for helping the learner with THRASS at home. There will be a morning session from 8:00am-9:30am and a duplicate afternoon session from 1:00pm-2:30pm on Thursday, September 3 in the LLAC lobby. RSVP is required. Please contact Lower School Coordinator Linda Parnsalu @ lindaparnsalu@cdnis.edu.hk or 2525-7088 ext 1031 if you wish to attend one of the sessions.
