CDNIS 5th Annual Blood Drive

Blood donations save lives. Every minute of everyday, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor, a person like you who makes the choice to donate. There is no substitute for your donation. The 5th Annual CDNIS Blood Drive will take place on Wednesday, February 10 from 10am-4pm in the LLAC. Parents, staff and students over the age of 16 can participate. Students age 16 and 17 MUST have their parents’ permission. To date, almost 200 people have participated but we would like to see more!

There are some restrictions for donors. You CANNOT give blood if:
• You have lived in Europe or the UK for 3 or more months between 1980-1996 or for 5 or more years in France from 1980–present.
• You spent a total of 5 or more years in Europe between 1980–present.
• You received a blood transfusion in the UK anytime since 1980.
• You received a bovine insulin injection since 1980.
• You worked or lived for a total of six months or more at US Military bases in Europe between 1980–1996
• You have been in North America within 2 weeks of the date of donation (returned AFTER January 27).

If you are unable to donate, you can still support the Blood Drive by volunteering. Parents are needed to staff the event and to bake cookies for the donors. Blood donors are asked to sign up in advance. Contact Nurse Karla to sign up or volunteer at karlahandcock@cdnis.edu.hk or 2240 6329.
